Behavioural Therapy
Behavioural therapy is a type of psychotherapy which involves changing problematic behaviours, thoughts and feelings through interaction with a qualified therapist. It is used to treat a wide range of mental health and behavioural issues, and can be beneficial for people of all ages. Behavioural therapy focuses on identifying and changing unhealthy patterns of behaviour or thinking which have become ingrained in the person’s life. It can be used to help people overcome phobias, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other problems. Through structured and focused conversations between the therapist and the patient, behavioural therapy can help to identify the underlying causes of the problem and then devise strategies to alter and replace the problematic behaviour. By making use of reinforcement and rewards, behavioural therapy can help people to move away from bad habits and reinforce positive behaviours. As such, behavioural therapy can be an extremely effective way of managing mental and behavioural health issues.
