Pharyngitis
Pharyngitis is an inflammation of the throat and pharynx (throat lining), most commonly caused by viral or bacterial infection. It is one of the most common infectious diseases, causing sore throat and swollen tonsils. Symptoms include sore throat, difficulty or pain while swallowing, swollen tonsils, fever, swollen lymph nodes in the neck, and/or a scratchy or irritating feeling in the throat. Pharyngitis can be treated with self-care measures, antibiotics, or corticosteroids. Proper diagnosis is important for effective treatment. Treatment and prevention of pharyngitis can help to reduce the spread of infectious diseases, resulting in fewer illnesses and improved overall health.
