Ototoxicity
Ototoxicity refers to the damaging potential of certain chemicals and drugs to damage the hearing or balance organs. This can result in hearing loss, tinnitus, or balance disturbances. The ears are particularly vulnerable to ototoxicity, as certain structures are more sensitive to the damaging effects of these substances than other organs. Ototoxicity is important to recognize and prevent, as it can have long-term impacts on the auditory and balance systems. Early detection and prompt action to limit the damaging effects of ototoxic substances can help ensure better hearing and balance health.
