Forehead Flap
A forehead flap is a surgical procedure where a flap of skin is elevated from a donor area and transferred to a recipient area to achieve reconstruction of tissue defects. The donor area is usually located on the forehead, while the recipient area is typically on the face or scalp. This procedure is commonly used to repair defects caused by trauma, burns, or cancer surgery. The advantages of the forehead flap compared to other flaps include the ability to provide a large area of skin that matches the color and texture of the surrounding area. Additionally, the forehead flap is versatile, allowing the surgeon to adjust the size to fit the defect and shape the skin to match the surrounding anatomy. The forehead flap provides excellent color-matching, texture, and contour, and can be used to reconstruct complex tissue defects in a single operation.
