Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the scientific study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events in populations, and the application of this study to the control of health problems. It examines how often diseases occur in different groups of people, why they occur, and how they can be prevented. Its aim is to improve population health by discovering patterns of disease and risk factors, developing strategies to prevent them, and evaluating interventions. Epidemiological research is essential in providing data to inform policy makers, healthcare professionals, and the public. It can help to identify causes of health problems, diagnose and prevent them, and track trends over time. This research can suggest improved treatments and help to ensure that health services are used effectively and efficiently.
