Ear Surgery
Ear surgery is a surgical procedure performed to treat conditions of the ear. It can involve reconstruction of parts of the ear or removal of excess tissue and implants to improve hearing abilities. Ear surgery can also be done to correct abnormalities of the ear, such as malformations due to genetic defects, trauma, infections, or tumors. Ear surgery can improve hearing, reduce pain and balance problems, and improve the appearance of the ear. It is often used to correct conductive hearing loss, which is caused by middle ear problems, and sensorineural hearing loss, which is caused by inner ear problems.
