Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin protective mucous membrane that covers the white part of the eye and lines the inner surface of the eyelids. It is a very common eye condition and can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection, allergies, or exposure to various irritants. The main symptom is redness and swelling of the eye and eyelids, often accompanied by itching, discharge, and light sensitivity. Treatment of conjunctivitis depends on the underlying cause and can include eye drops, ointments, antibiotics, and anti-allergy medications.
