Adenoidectomy

Adenoidectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the adenoid, a mass of tissue located in the back of the nose. This procedure may be necessary when the adenoid is chronically enlarged or infected with bacteria, resulting in airway obstruction, snoring, and chronic ear/nose infections. It is also used as part of the surgical procedure to correct sleep disordered breathing in children. Adenoidectomy may also improve speech development, as enlarged adenoids can lead to distorted speech patterns. Surgery is considered to be the most effective treatment in cases where the adenoid is chronically enlarged or infected with bacteria.
