Osteoarthritis Therapy
Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disorder caused by wear and tear of the cartilage at the end of the bones. It causes pain, loss of mobility, stiffness, and swelling in the affected joint, and may lead to significant disability and loss of independent living. Osteoarthritis is treated with a combination of lifestyle modifications (e.g. weight loss, exercise, quitting smoking), medications (e.g. non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids, opioid analgesics), and physical therapy. Additionally, the use of emerging technologies such as cell-based therapies, regenerative medicine, and other advanced treatment options is increasingly being explored to improve symptom management and reduce the progression of the disease. Thus, timely, effective treatment of osteoarthritis is critical for improving the quality of life for those affected.
