PTLD
Progressive transformation of lymphoid tissue (PTLD) is a severe form of cancer that develops in the lymphoid tissue following organ transplantation. It is caused by a virus that causes the lymphoid tissue to grow abnormally and become cancerous. PTLD is typically treated with chemotherapy, radiation, or a combination of both. It has a mortality rate of up to 40%, making it one of the most serious complications of organ transplantation. Diagnosis and early treatment of PTLD is essential to minimizing mortality and morbidity from this condition.
