Pancreas Transplantation
Pancreas transplantation is a major surgical procedure wherein a healthy pancreas from a donor is transplanted into a recipient's body. It is typically done after other treatments such as insulin therapy and other medical treatments have failed to adequately control the patient's diabetes. Pancreas transplantation is life-saving and can significantly improve the quality of life for patients who have been living with severe diabetes. It can allow recipients to stop taking insulin injections or reduce their dosages significantly. The transplanted pancreas can even give the recipient a chance to lower their cholesterol and blood pressure levels. Pancreas transplantation has proven to be a safe and reliable treatment option and can help to restore normal quality of life to recipients.
