Organ and Tissue Donation
Organ and tissue donation is the process of surgically removing an organ or tissue from one person (the donor) and transplanting it into another person (the recipient). It is an invaluable and lifesaving procedure, allowing people with organ failure or severe tissue damage to receive a transplant and live a longer, healthier life. It is becoming increasingly important due to the ever-increasing demand for donor organs and tissue, but there is a huge shortage worldwide. This has highlighted the need for more people to sign up to become donors and help save lives. There are many different types of donation, ranging from donating a single organ to donating your entire body for research or medical training. Each of these donations can be incredibly beneficial for the donor and recipient, and could ultimately save a life.
