Operative Blood Salvage
Operative Blood Salvage is an important medical procedure that allows surgeons to collect and reuse a patient’s own blood lost during surgery. This procedure reduces the risk of infection and complications associated with the use of donor blood. It is especially useful for those who cannot receive donor blood due to medical or religious reasons and for patients who have lost a lot of blood and need a blood transfusion. The procedure requires a special suction device to collect the patient’s blood and a cell separator to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. The red blood cells are then processed, washed, and stored in a container for reuse. In some cases, the plasma is also stored for possible future use. Operative Blood Salvage is a safe and cost-effective way to reduce the need for donor blood during surgical procedures and helps to improve patient outcomes.
