Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. It is a lifelong disease that can lead to serious health complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, eye problems, and nerve damage. The goal of treating type 1 diabetes is to keep blood glucose levels within a normal range. This can be done by administering insulin, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and managing stress levels. Type 1 diabetes can be managed successfully with the help of self-care and ongoing medical care. Improving the quality of life for those with type 1 diabetes is an important goal.
