Metabolic Acidosis

Metabolic acidosis is a condition in which the body accumulates excess acid, resulting in a low blood pH. It is caused by a disturbance in acid-base balance, where the body produces too much acid or does not eliminate acid adequately. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, including nausea, vomiting, confusion, and difficulty breathing. Treatment for metabolic acidosis depends on its cause and severity, with the goal being to restore the acid-base balance in the body. Metabolic acidosis has serious consequences if left untreated, including coma and death, so it is important to seek medical care if symptoms occur. Metabolic acidosis has many causes, including kidney failure, diabetes, and certain types of poisoning. It is also seen in various metabolic disorders, including lactic acidosis and ketoacidosis. Early diagnosis and treatment of metabolic acidosis can help to prevent further complications and improve quality of life.
