Goiter
Goiter is an enlargement of the thyroid gland in the neck. It is caused by a lack of iodine in the diet, which results in inadequate production of hormones in the thyroid. Goiter can lead to a variety of health complications, including difficulty in swallowing, hoarseness, and loss of energy. Treatment for goiter includes use of iodine supplementation and, in severe cases, surgery. Maintaining adequate iodine levels in the diet is essential for the prevention of goiter. Moreover, regular checkups and thyroid tests can help diagnose goiter early and avoid serious health problems.
