Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study of patterns, causes, and effects of disease in a population. It is a fundamental science of public health, focused on providing data and methods to prevent or contain disease. It can be used to identify risk factors for health problems, develop prevention strategies, evaluate interventions, monitor the spread of diseases, and predict the incidence of certain diseases. It also helps to inform decision makers on where to allocate resources to reduce health inequalities. Ultimately, its purpose is to control and improve public health outcomes.
