Bulimia Nervosa
Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of Bing eating behaviors, followed by compensatory behaviors such as self-induced vomiting, laxative use, or over-exercising. People with bulimia nervosa often feel extreme shame and guilt about their eating behaviors and may attempt to hide them from family and friends. Bulimia nervosa has serious physical and psychological health consequences, including dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, dental issues, and depression. Individuals with bulimia nervosa often have distorted body image, and they may have a hard time understanding how their behavior could be dangerous to their health. Early assessment and intervention can be very beneficial in helping individuals to reduce or stop bulimic behaviors and improve their physical and mental health.
