Succinylation
Succinylation is a post-translational modification (PTM) of proteins that involves the attachment of succinyl groups to specific lysine or arginine residues of a protein. This PTM is known to play a role in a variety of biological processes such as protein folding, protein-protein interactions, enzymatic activity regulation and subcellular localization. It has been studied extensively in the context of proteome-wide analysis and is increasingly being used in biomarker and drug target discovery. Due to its involvement in a variety of functions, succinylation is a key player in many disease processes and can be used to provide insights into disease aetiology and drug treatments.
