Proton Channels
Proton channels are proteins found in biological cells that control the transport of protons across a membrane. They are a critical component of the cell's ionic homeostasis, which is responsible for maintaining the cell's electrical potential, pH, and other properties. Proton channels are also used to regulate a range of physiological processes, such as osmotic balance, nerve conduction, muscle contraction, and ionic gradients across membranes. They are essential components of a wide range of cellular activities, and their presence is necessary for normal cellular functioning.
