Proteasomes
Proteasomes are large, protein-cutting complexes found in cells of all higher organisms. They are responsible for degrading long proteins into short peptides. This process, known as proteolysis, is essential for maintaining cell homeostasis and regulating cellular activities. It also plays a role in the immune response and disease development. Proteasomes are important drug targets and are involved in the development of many therapeutic molecules. They also provide molecular insights into cell biology and have potential implications for medical treatment and biotechnological applications.
