Pneumococcus
Pneumococcus is a bacterium responsible for causing a range of illnesses, including pneumonia and meningitis. It is extremely contagious and can be spread through coughing and sneezing. Vaccination is the best form of protection against pneumococcus. The development of a vaccine to protect against pneumococcal disease has been a significant advancement in public health and has been credited with saving thousands of lives worldwide by reducing the burden of pneumococcal diseases. It also reduces the spread of drug-resistant strains of the bacteria and has been found to be cost-effective in preventing the spread of pneumococcal disease.
