Lactones

Lactones are cyclic esters derived from lactic acid that are found in various plants. They are usually formed by the condensation of lactic acid with an alcohol and can be used in a variety of applications. Lactones are known for their natural sweet odour and can be used as fragrances in perfumes, soaps, and cosmetics. They are also used in the manufacture of flavours and in pharmaceuticals and food processing. Lactones are also known for their antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, and have been used for centuries for their therapeutic benefits. Their unique properties also make them valuable for industrial applications in the production of polymers, lubricants, and paints.
