Integrins
Integrins are a type of transmembrane protein found across all domains of life. They play a key role in many important processes within the body, such as cell adhesion, cell migration, signal transduction, and cell-cell communication. Integrins can be found on the surface of cells and interact with other proteins, enabling cells to recognize, adhere to, and interact with their environment. In multicellular organisms, integrin proteins help form and maintain the structural integrity of the cell and are involved in the body's immune response. They are also critical components of the extracellular matrix and play an important role in the process of wound healing. Integrins allow cells to move and respond to chemical signals, contributing to many important physiological processes. As such, integrins are essential for health and a proper functioning of the body.
