Clinical Molecular Biology
Clinical molecular biology is a branch of medicine that applies molecular techniques to the identification, diagnosis, and management of illnesses. It uses sophisticated techniques to analyze and manipulate DNA and proteins, providing insights into gene expression, genetic structure and interactions between cell components. These techniques allow for the detection of disease-causing mutations and the determination of inherited risks for many genetic disorders. Clinicians can use the results of these tests to provide early diagnosis, formulate a plan of care, and monitor treatment. In addition, research in clinical molecular biology has helped to develop new therapies and treatments for many diseases.
