Chromatin Structure and Function
Chromatin is the structural packaging of DNA within the nucleus of a cell. It plays an important role in regulating gene expression, which can have a major impact on the growth and behavior of a cell. Chromatin is composed of DNA and proteins, called histones, that are tightly wound up together. This structure helps to protect the DNA from damage, as well as to control which genes are active in a cell.
