Parasympathetic Nervous System
The Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) is the division of the autonomic nervous system that is responsible for controlling the body's activities during rest. It is the opposite of the sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the body's fight-or-flight response. The PNS helps to regulate processes such as digestion, growth, and reproduction while also controlling heart rate, breathing rate, and blood pressure. It is also responsible for controlling the body's relaxation response, allowing it to return to homeostasis after a stressful event. By controlling these processes, the PNS helps maintain overall body health and wellbeing.
