Amyloidosis
Amyloidosis is a rare disorder in which abnormal proteins called amyloid build up in various organs in the body, leading to organ damage. It is caused by the abnormal production and folding of proteins. Symptoms vary depending on what organs are involved and can range from mild to life-threatening. Treatment options are available and may include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and medications. With early diagnosis and treatment, amyloidosis can be managed. It is important to recognize the signs and symptoms, as timely diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve a patient’s outcome.
