Urethra

The urethra is a tube that extends from the bladder to the outside of the body, and it plays a vital role in urination. It passes urine from the bladder to the outside, helping to eliminate waste and excess fluid from the body. Additionally, in males, the urethra also carries semen during ejaculation. In females, the urethra is much shorter than in males, and it runs between the clitoris and the vagina. Due to its location and small size, the female urethra is more susceptible to infection than the male urethra. Malfunction or damage to the urethra can lead to a variety of medical issues, including urinary tract infections and incontinence. Thus, preserving the health and function of the urethra is crucial for maintaining overall bodily health and wellbeing.
