Stress Incontinence

Stress incontinence is a type of urinary incontinence and is characterized by the involuntary loss of urine during activities that increase abdominal pressure, like coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercise. It is a common problem, particularly among women, and can have a significant impact on quality of life. Treatment typically involves lifestyle modifications, such as avoiding triggers like caffeinated drinks, limiting fluid intake, maintaining a healthy weight, and practicing Kegel exercises. In more severe cases, medical interventions may be necessary, including pelvic floor muscle training, behavioural therapy and medications. In extreme cases, surgery may be required. Stress incontinence can be treated, and there are strategies for managing and even curing it.
