Kidney Biopsy

A kidney biopsy is a procedure involving the removal of a small piece of kidney tissue for examination under a microscope. It is used to diagnose a variety of kidney diseases, such as kidney infections, kidney stones, and kidney cancer. The procedure is minimally invasive and generally done through a needle placed through the skin into the kidney, guided by ultrasound imaging. It is typically done by a renal specialist and the tissue can provide vital information on the cause and extent of the disease. Through a kidney biopsy, doctors are able to better diagnose and treat a variety of kidney conditions, giving people better access to proper care and potentially lifesaving treatments.
