Skin Cancer
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States, affecting over 3.5 million Americans every year. It is caused by too much exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun, tanning beds, or other sources of radiation. Skin cancer can be deadly if not treated early, but it is highly treatable if caught early on. There are several types of skin cancer, most notably melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. Surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and other treatments may be used to treat skin cancer. Taking measures to protect oneself from ultraviolet radiation exposure, including wearing sunscreen and protective clothing, is the best way to prevent skin cancer.
