Phase i and Clinical Pharmacology
Phase I and Clinical Pharmacology are two important stages in the development, delivery and use of drugs. In Phase I, the drug is tested in a small group of healthy volunteers to evaluate its safety, side effects and pharmacokinetic properties. Clinical Pharmacology is the testing of drugs on larger subject populations to assess the efficacy and safety in patients, as well as its interactions with other drugs and its ability to address the medical condition. This knowledge is critical in helping to develop safe and effective drugs and inform regulatory decisions.
