Neurofibromatosis
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic condition characterized by the growth of tumors along the nerves in both the central and peripheral nervous systems. It can cause a range of symptoms, including facial and skeletal deformities, skin discoloration, learning disabilities, and vision and hearing problems. Early diagnosis and treatment can reduce the risk of certain complications. NF is also associated with high rates of cancer and other medical problems, such as heart and kidney disease. Treatment may include surgery, radiation therapy, and medications. Early diagnosis and ongoing care can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
