Hematologic Malignancies

Hematologic malignancies are a group of cancers that affect the hematopoietic stem cells, which are the stem cells that produce the various red and white blood cell types. These malignancies can include leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other related disorders. Symptoms vary depending on the type of malignancy and can include anemia, fatigue, weight loss, bone pain, and easy bruising or bleeding. Treatments may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapies. Hematologic malignancies can be very serious and can have significant impacts on patients’ quality of life. To ensure the best outcomes for those with these malignancies, early detection and treatment is essential.
