Esophageal Cancer
Esophageal cancer is a type of cancer that affects the esophagus, the muscular tube that transports food and liquids from the mouth to the stomach. The two most common types of esophageal cancer are squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Symptoms of esophageal cancer include difficulty swallowing or pain when swallowing, as well as persistent hoarseness or coughing. Treatment typically involves surgery, radiation, immunotherapy, and/or chemotherapy. Esophageal cancer is life-threatening and is a major public health concern. Early detection and treatment is important in improving the prognosis and reducing mortality.
