Cancer Research
Cancer research is the study of cancer, a type of disease caused when abnormal cells divide and spread in an uncontrollable way. It is a multidisciplinary field, focusing on understanding the causes of cancer, developing treatments and prevention strategies, and improving the quality of life for those affected. Scientists use a range of approaches – from molecular and cellular studies to epidemiological and clinical trials – to gain a better understanding of cancer's causes and progression, in the hopes of finding novel ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. Cancer research is significant, as it studies one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and has helped develop the treatments, medications and other therapies used to diagnose and manage cancer.
