Cancer Pain
Cancer pain is a significant symptom of cancer, resulting from the release of inflammatory chemicals and/or pressure on nerves in and around the affected areas of the body. It can vary from mild to severe and is debilitating for many, particularly when left untreated. Treatment options for cancer pain include medication, physical therapy, radiotherapy and surgery. Pain management strategies usually focus on reducing or controlling the pain, and allowing the individual to resume physical and social activities. Understanding the cause and severity of pain is also essential in order to implement the most effective treatment plan. Cancer pain can have a profound impact on the quality of life of cancer patients and should be managed appropriately.
