Fasta Searching

Fasta searching is a sequence analysis technique used to compare protein or DNA sequences. Fasta search algorithms look for similarities between two query sequences by finding regions in both sequences that have the same nucleotide or amino acid composition. The results of fasta searching can indicate whether the two sequences share a common function or origin. Fasta searching is useful in studying proteins, finding related proteins in different organisms, analyzing gene expression patterns, and constructing phylogenic trees. It is also a valuable tool for drug discovery, genetic engineering and evolutionary biology.
