Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide

Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a small protein that plays an important role in physiology and pathology. It is involved in a wide range of physiological functions, such as regulation of blood pressure, pain transmission, and migraine pathways. CGRP also plays a role in migraine and other headache disorders, and it has been associated with cardiovascular diseases and a number of autoimmune disorders. In therapeutic management of these diseases, CGRP inhibitors have been identified as promising treatments. Research is ongoing to further its understanding and to evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
