Tissue Resident Memory
T Cells Tissue resident memory T cells (TRM) are a type of T cell found in the body that are key in providing strong protection against pathogens. TRM are long-lived cells that can rapidly respond to a threat and provide protection against the same pathogen in the future. They continually patrol their tissue of residence, providing protection against invading pathogens or tumor cells. Additionally, TRM can stimulate other T cell responses, including the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines to help recruit other cells for effective and efficient immunological protection. TRM is a critical component of the immune system and has many implications in the context of cancer, infectious disease, and vaccine development.
