Schema
Therapy Schema Therapy is an innovative psychotherapy approach that combines elements of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and experiential therapies to treat long standing and difficult to change psychological problems. It is used to help individuals identify and change maladaptive schemas, or negative attitudes and beliefs about themselves, that contribute to current dysfunctional behavior and emotional distress. By doing this, the individual can become more aware of his/her schemas and how they lead to negative patterns of thought and behavior. This awareness can help the individual break free from these patterns and create more positive and meaningful experiences in life. Schema Therapy is a powerful tool in treating a variety of mental health issues such as personality disorders, anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship issues.
