Neuroscience
Neuroscience is the interdisciplinary scientific field that studies the nervous system, including its structure, development, molecular and cellular functions, and related disease states. The goal of neuroscience is to understand how neural circuits and systems in the brain mediate behavior, cognition, and emotion. Neuroscience also includes the study of cognitive processes such as attention, learning, and memory. Neuroscience research has revealed many of the mechanisms that underlie normal brain function and has provided critical insight into the etiology and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Neuroscience is a critical field for understanding both normal and abnormal brain function, and for the development of effective treatments for a wide range of disorders.
