Memory Formation
Memory formation is the process of storing information and creating long-term memories in our brains. It is a crucial element of how we learn and remember information. Memory formation is a multi-step process which involves the encoding, consolidation, and retrieval of memories. During encoding, the initial stage of memory formation, information is encoded and stored in the brain. During consolidation, the stored information is stabilized and strengthened in the brain. Retrieval is the final stage of memory formation, where the stored information can be accessed and used. Memory formation is essential for learning and adapting to our environment, and has a major impact on our learning and memory capabilities.
