Urology Urological Infections
Urology is a specialty of medicine that deals with the treatment of diseases related to the urinary tract and male reproductive organs. Urological infections are microbial infections which may occur in the urinary tract and male genital tract. These infections are commonly caused by bacteria, fungi or viruses and can have serious consequences if left untreated. Symptoms can include pain when passing urine, increased frequency of urination, cloudy or bloody urine, fever, chills and fatigue. Treatment may include antibiotics, antifungal medications, or antiviral medications depending on the causative organisms. Early diagnosis and treatment of urological infections is important to reduce the risk of further complications, such as urinary tract obstruction, septic shock, or kidney failure.
