Urethritis

Urethritis is an inflammation of the urethra, a tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body. It can be caused by bacterial infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomonas infections. Symptoms of urethritis include burning during urination, pain in the lower abdomen and genital area and cloudy, foul-smelling urine. Treatment may involve antibiotics, antiviral drugs and topical treatment to reduce inflammation. Urethritis is an important condition to be aware of as it can lead to complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility. Its timely diagnosis and treatment are key for good outcomes.
