Pyelonephritis

Pyelonephritis is a type of urinary tract infection (UTI) caused by bacteria that enter the kidney through the urinary tract. This infection can lead to inflammation of the kidney and possible damage to its tissue. Symptoms of pyelonephritis include fever, chills, nausea, flank pain, and state of confusion. Treatment for pyelonephritis involves antibiotics and, in some cases, hospitalization as well. It is important to treat pyelonephritis promptly since untreated infections can lead to serious complications, such as permanent kidney damage. Early diagnosis and treatment of this infection can help prevent such complications.
