Proteinuria
Proteinuria is a medical term used to describe the presence of excess proteins in the urine. It is a common laboratory finding that can be caused by various diseases, including kidney disease and certain types of heart disease. Proteinuria can be a sign of serious underlying health problems and should be evaluated by a healthcare practitioner if it is present. When detected and treated early, many of the underlying causes of proteinuria can be managed and complications prevented.
