Prostatitis
Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate gland located near the base of the male urinary bladder. It is most commonly caused by bacterial infection, but can also be caused by physical or chemical trauma. Symptoms may include difficulty urinating, painful urination and ejaculation, fever, and lower abdominal pain. Prostatitis is the most common type of prostate problem in men younger than 50 and is a source of significant physical and emotional distress. Treatment options depend on the underlying cause, but may include antibiotics, lifestyle changes, and pain relievers. Its timely diagnosis and proper treatment are important to maintain prostate health and to prevent long-term complications.
