Prolapse

Prolapse is a medical condition in which organs that are normally held in place within the body drop down, usually due to weakened supporting ligaments or muscles. Prolapse can affect the uterus, bladder, bowel, vagina, and rectum and can be caused by childbirth, aging, or heavy lifting. Symptoms of prolapse include changes in bladder or bowel habits, feeling a lump in the pelvic area, or difficulty with sexual intercourse. Treatment options can include lifestyle modifications, pelvic floor exercises, physical therapy, or surgery depending on the severity of the prolapse. Proper management of prolapse can help improve quality of life by relieving irritation and discomfort.
